About The Position

Eaton Corporation’s Electrical Sector America (ES/A) is seeking a Principal Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) Engineer. This position will report directly to the Technical Director. This is a hybrid position based in Raleigh, NC. Relocation will be provided. The Principal Systems Engineer will be an integrated member of an interdisciplinary product development team, with primary systems engineering responsibilities including Requirements Engineering, Architecture, Design and Verification and Validation (V&V) strategies and plans. Accountability includes strategic initiatives, but is also heavily linked to tactical streams, working very connected with product teams on the different ES/A divisions to ensure smooth and efficient project execution, aiming continuous improvement on engineering cycle time acceleration and product quality. You will have a strong focus on complex Cyber-Physical Systems, encompassing Firmware (FW), Software (SW), Control Systems, Model-Based Design, and interactions with Hardware Elements (ex. Control Boards, Sensors, Actuators, etc.). Your work will be connected with other product systems engineers to enable a very strong system engineering strategy and execution for HW and SW elements. You will work across Division and Centers of Excellence (COEs) to deliver optimum system level solutions and will be also responsible for increasing capabilities across Divisions in ES/A on systems engineering applied to Cyber-Physical Systems. The expected annual salary range for this role is $154000 - $225000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Systems engineering certification (INCOSE ASEP/CSEP/ESEP, etc.)
  • Cyber-Physical System Integration Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Requirements Engineering: Requirements Definition, Traceability, Analysis, Qualification, Communication, and management at successive levels of abstraction for Cyber Physical Systems.
  • Partnering with several cross-functional organizations and stakeholders (ex. Marketing, Sales, Service, Engineering, Supply chain etc..), to elicit customer needs and develop proper requirements sets at different levels in the organization (from System to Subsystem Level Requirements around SW, FW and HW development)
  • Architecture Design: Work in conjunction with other Systems Engineers, both at product and subsystem levels, as well as the engineering teams, to come up with optimized, scalable, and re-usable Cyber-Physical Architectures for our products.
  • MBSE Process and Tools: define, in collaboration with other process partners and stakeholders, an efficient Model Based Systems Engineering methodology to support all related product development and systems engineering activities for Cyber Physical Systems: that includes, beyond requirement engineering and architecture design, elements as System Models and Simulation Requirements aiming product acceleration and increased quality.
  • Assist development and Quality Assurance (QA) teams in test case development to ensure proper test methodologies and coverage for specific features and functions.
  • Educate Engineering, Marketing, and other stakeholders on industry best practices regarding systems engineering functions and behaviors.
  • Bridge in between Product Level Requirements and Architecture to Software and Hardware systems and teams, what requires a very strong foundation in Controls, MBD, SW and HW architectures, requirements, and workflows (ex.
