Overall Purpose This position will provide day-to-day support to the company’s product team advising on a broad range of legal issues through the product development lifecycle, including regulatory compliance, product marketing, and contracts.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor from accredited law school; admission to Arizona or other State bar
  • Five+ years’ in-house or law firm experience advising financial institutions or financial services/financial technology companies on compliance with consumer financial services laws and regulations
  • Ability to learn new substantive areas of the law
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and changing organizational needs
  • Ability to work proactively with various teams throughout the organization to achieve results while mitigating risk
  • Strong presentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to build partnerships and alliances internally and with external partners at all levels of the organization
  • Strong business acumen—the ability to be forward-thinking and innovative while understanding our business needs and limitations
  • Highly effective working in a team environment
  • Proactive self-starter
  • Unyielding commitment to highest professional ethics
  • Ability to maintain professional licensing and memberships in appropriate professional organizations

Responsibilities

  • Review and advise on legal risk mitigation strategies for new and existing products, features and business initiatives
  • Advise on compliance with applicable laws and regulations relating to the company’s products
  • Provide legal support and guidance on product marketing, disclosures, terms of use and other public facing documents pertinent to products
  • Advise on contract terms and issues related to products
  • Collaborate with other internal partners, including privacy, security, compliance, risk management and other members of the Legal department, to provide integrated support to the product team
  • Work independently without significant supervision in support of client needs
  • Comply with all security policies and procedures, to ensure that the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity and availability is maintained
  • Support the company’s commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
