About The Position

The Privacy Specialist II, under general direction, is responsible for administering privacy related programs and policies. Essential Duties/Tasks Privacy Program Implementation and Coordination Implements and coordinates privacy programs and policies Reinforces complex business and data management processes that comply with all applicable laws and regulations Develops and implements data breach response plans and procedures Coordinates and delivers privacy training programs, communications, and training materials Compliance Monitoring and Auditing Administers compliance monitoring, auditing, and remediation processes Reviews and approves data processing activities to ensure compliance with privacy regulations Responds to both routine and more advanced inquiries regarding privacy matters from internal stakeholders; escalates inquiries when appropriate Legal Analysis & Reporting Conducts research, analysis, reporting on the impacts of new legal changes or potential policy changes Collaborates with legal counsel to interpret and apply privacy laws appropriately Stakeholder Engagement & Inquiry Response Responds to inquiries regarding privacy matters from external stakeholders; escalates inquiries when appropriate Investigations & Mitigations/Sanctions Work on investigations, document mitigations and/or sanctions Review post-investigation to ensure that mitigation strategies have been implemented; that they are effective; or are being addressed in appropriate ways with the Privacy Office What You Need to Know Salary: $65,000-78,000 annually Special Instructions: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Four years of related experience in administering privacy programs and policies
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • This position is security sensitive
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations
  • Knowledge of US privacy laws
  • CIPP/US certification (US privacy certification)
  • Any other applicable professional privacy certifications
