About The Position

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency working to create a world with zero hunger. WFP and its partners believe that no child should go to bed hungry and that individual and collective wellbeing can only be achieved if all children, women, and men get the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, dignified lives. To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster, WFP is growing private sector fundraising and partnerships to reach more people. The Partnerships team at the Regional Director’s Office (RDO) in WFP in Latin America and the Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) is responsible for engaging government’s, international financial institutions, private sector and other entities through high-impact partnerships in support of WFP’s strategic priorities. As part of the partnerships team, the private sector pillar strives to engage corporations, individuals, foundations, and other high-value donors (civil society, faith-based organizations) to mobilize vital funding to help WFP fulfil its mission and operations. The Partnerships team also provides technical guidance to 13 Country Offices (COs) in the LAC region and coordinates closely with Functional Units for partnership development, communications, and compliance of rules and regulations for engaging with the private sector. We’re looking for a driven, results-oriented professional to help unlock new multi-million private sector funding for WFP in Latin America & the Caribbean. As a front-line acquisition role the consultant will researching, prospecting, pitching, and converting new partners with the aim of supporting the diversification of the private sector portfolio. The candidate will work directly with the Regional Private Sector Lead to turn bold ideas into signed partnerships, focusing on two major growth streams: Corporate & Individual Giving: securing corporate agreements to scale innovative individual giving models. High-Value Donors (foundations, civil society, faith-based organizations): responsible for opening doors, develop proposals, and design compelling offers for new prospects. This role requires a professional with strong business development expertise and a proven track record in fundraising within development settings. Knowledge driving individual giving or driving partnerships with high-value donors preferred. We are looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments, agile and solutions-oriented individual who is a team-player, comfortable multitasking, shifting strategies, and continuously modifying and innovating approaches to achieve ambitious goals.

Requirements

  • University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, Marketing, Communications, or another relevant field. Advanced University degree or professional certification is a plus.
  • At least 6 years’ demonstrated experience account management and sales.
  • A minimum of six (6) years' experience in a partnership development, business development, marketing, or business-to-business sales roles, including experience of creating fundraising partnerships;
  • A solid understanding of how to secure and manage partnerships with either or all preferred: individual giving, high value channels (foundations, civil society, faith-based).
  • Demonstrated experience in and extensive understanding of WFP’s zero hunger mandate and operations, preferably across functional and geographical contexts;
  • Previous working experience and demonstrated networking abilities within WFP and/or with other UN agencies, NGOs, government and/or development partners.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written Spanish (fluency/level C knowledge) and English.

Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Support the diversification of WFP’s private sector fundraising strategy in the region securing new multi-million dollar partnerships in growth streams.
  • Identify and research new funding opportunities across corporates, foundations, civil society, faith-based organizations, and individuals.
  • Conduct outreach, including cold approaches, and leverage internal networks to initiate contact and drive negotiations.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of prospects with long-term funding potential.
  • Develop tailored value propositions, proposals, and pitch materials to engage different donor types.
  • Support visibility and fundraising events that attract new partners.
  • Engage donors during emergencies to mobilize rapid support and position WFP as a trusted partner.
  • Lead on partnership negotiations and model design, working with internal teams to ensure compliance and alignment with HQ processes. 2.Country Office Guidance: Provide technical guidance to 13 country offices and sub-regions on business development and outreach strategies.
  • Share best practices and support country teams in identifying and pursuing private sector opportunities.
  • Organize internal trainings to build business development capacity and private sector expertise.
  • Support country offices with negotiations, pitching, outreach, and internal coordination to ensure responsible engagement with private sector actors. 3.Operational Support and Coordination Weekly maintenance and update of Salesforce accounts and dashboards to track engagement and fundraising efforts.
  • Monitor progress against key performance indicators and contribute to regular reporting.
  • Support in preparation of briefing materials for senior leadership ahead of donor meetings.
  • Develop and manage knowledge hubs with toolkits, templates, and training materials to support private sector engagement across the region.
  • Support Partnerships team as needed.
