About The Position

The Staff Pharmacist supports daily pharmacy operations within a high‑volume, long‑term care (LTC) pharmacy environment, ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant medication dispensing. This role is responsible for supervising pharmacy technicians and support staff, maintaining adherence to all state and federal pharmacy regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service to facilities, providers, and internal teams. The Pharmacist plays a key role in sterile and non‑sterile compounding, medication verification, operational problem‑solving, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant pharmacy workflow. This position is ideal for a Texas‑licensed pharmacist with strong clinical judgment, IV certification, and experience in long‑term care or complex pharmacy settings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE‑accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharm or PharmD
  • Licensed and registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas
  • ACPE‑accredited IV certification required
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
  • Effective communication, delegation, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, written, and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory or pharmacy management experience preferred
  • Long‑term care (LTC) pharmacy experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform all staff pharmacist duties, including medication verification, dispensing, and clinical oversight
  • Serve as a Team Leader and role model of Cantex’s ethical standards and code of conduct
  • Ensure delivery of high‑quality pharmacy services to all patients and partner facilities
  • Identify and resolve operational issues affecting productivity, workflow, or service quality
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategic plans for pharmacy growth and operational improvement
  • Anticipate customer needs and provide service‑oriented solutions to facilities and providers
  • Respond promptly to incoming communications and support customer service initiatives
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff to address operational challenges and improve efficiency
  • Promote a respectful, professional, and supportive work environment
  • Build trust and confidence through positive, energetic leadership
  • Maintain effective working relationships with pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and external partners
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of licensed and certified pharmacy personnel

  • Participate in employee evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Attend pharmacy meetings to review operations, expenses, labor management, and performance metrics
  • Conduct rounds to ensure safe, sanitary, and compliant pharmacy conditions
  • Identify staff development needs and support cross‑training initiatives
  • Ensure prescriptions are dispensed in accordance with all federal/state laws, SOPs, and best practices
  • Oversee pharmacy departments including receiving, filling, packaging, dispensing, delivery, inventory, and security
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medications, supplies, and forms
  • Demonstrate competency in sterile and non‑sterile compounding procedures
  • Provide clinical guidance to staff regarding product preparation, information management, and patient counseling
  • Utilize reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer clinical questions
  • Assist in managing pharmacy financial resources and reporting requirements
  • Support the business office with timely submission of financial records and cost reports
  • Troubleshoot third‑party billing discrepancies and prescription processing issues
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and perform administrative tasks
  • Assist in developing and maintaining pharmacy computer systems and emerging technologies
  • Maintain working knowledge of pharmacy operating systems, digital imaging, automated dispensing systems, and clinical software
  • Participate in after‑hours availability and on‑call rotations as assigned
  • Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Ensure patient and resident safety at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager
