About The Position

At Northern California Fertility Medical Center, we’re committed to delivering compassionate, patient-focused fertility care, and that includes supporting patients through every step of their fertility journey. We’re looking for a per diem Procedure Room Nurse-RN join our team in Sacramento! General Summary of Duties: The Pre-Op/PACU Nurse administers diligent care to outpatients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. The PACU nurse will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from regional and local anesthesia.

Requirements

  • RN degree; preferably BSN or MSN
  • Advanced knowledge in critical care practice of nursing
  • Current California RN license
  • CPR certification
  • BCLS and ACLS
  • Practical perioperative nursing
  • Critical care processes
  • Patient documentation into an EHR
  • Surgical procedures and related patient care
  • Pain and nausea management techniques
  • Anesthetic agents
  • Aseptic and sterile techniques
  • Excellent assessment and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and team skills
  • Competent in IV therapy and medications
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Work well with patients, families, and all levels of staff
  • Function in a fast-paced, stressful environment
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Exercise good judgment when performing duties
  • Standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting; must stand 6–8 hours/day
  • Occasional lifting/moving of equipment and supplies, up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to transfer patients

Nice To Haves

  • Previous ambulatory surgery experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, instruct and prepare patients prior to surgery
  • Ensure operative and informed consents are signed and correct
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
  • Initiate IV’s and ensure patients are informed about procedure
  • Assess the patients’ post-operative condition
  • Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria
  • Log all findings in patient files
  • Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
  • Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
  • Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies
  • Other duties as assigned
