As a Process Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing manufacturing processes for display and semiconductor manufacturing technologies. You will collect and analyze data, perform hardware characterization, and troubleshoot engineering issues. You'll also measure film properties, generate technical documentation, and engage with customers to resolve concerns. Process Engineers collaborate with vendors and suppliers, and become familiar with implementing new technologies and products. You will experiment, learn, and collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the semiconductor and display industries, partnering with our globally recognized R&D teams on state-of-the-art research and development projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S degree in Material science, Physics, Chemical engineering, Mechanical engineering, or any other engineering fields.
  • Minimum experience in RTP as process engineering or development for at least 3 years.
  • Hands-on experience and technical knowledge of Rapid Thermal Processes for ion implantation; and other thermal processes are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in any semiconductor process module and characterization, semiconductor device physics, semiconductor fabrication.
  • Fab-experience or Failure analysis background, especially in Patterning and its-related metrology is a plus.
  • No supervisory responsibilities but provides informal guidance to new team members and technicians.
  • Ability to work in a small team environment and highly dynamic environment interfacing multiple functional areas.
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly analyze large amounts of data and report results in PowerPoint and Microsoft suites.
  • Applies critical thinking and utilizes available tools to drive business productivity with limited need for supervision.
  • Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations.
  • Strong communication skills and good team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge with material characterization such as SIMS, ThermaWave, Sheet Resistance, VPD ICP-MS, TXRF, etc. is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and optimize Rapid Thermal Processing (RTP) and high temperature furnace processing to demonstrate performances of ion implanter and plasma doping for new technology in several applications including power devices, advanced memory and logic devices.
  • Work with R&D team, Applications development group, Customer demonstration engineers, and Applied’ s customers to define or develop new thermal annealing processes and metrology analysis approach.
  • Report the results to internal and external customers in both written and oral communication forum.
  • Characterize RTP to understand temperature sensitivity against implanted recipes, as a part of optimization and data analysis of on-wafer results using ThermaWave and Sheet Resistance.
  • Train process technicians, prioritize lab activities, and managing lab output and cycle time to meet customer's needs.
  • Responsible for sustaining, installation support, and troubleshooting of Applied RTP and Thermal Furnace equipment.
  • Develop new standard operation manual for tool operations, qualifications, and performance tracking in support of process technicians in the lab.
  • Maintain the equipment to ensure the highest possible performance of the equipment at the uptime of >90%. Track and schedule the maintenance with our Applied system engineering team.
  • Generate statistical process control and/or tool health monitoring to track tool performance in either daily or weekly basis.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects in support Apps Lab performance and product yield improvements.
  • On-job-training with senior metrology engineers, not limited to Annealing but also additional techniques available in our Applications lab.
