About The Position

Position at Judd Wire, Inc. Process Engineering Summer Intern - 2026 Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a resourceful, self-motivated Process Engineering Summer Intern in our Turners Falls, MA facility. This individual will be responsible for the supporting of Judd Wire’s Process Engineering activities in addition to providing direct support plant wide. Hiring Range: $20-$25 per hour (non-exempt) Job Duties and Responsibilities: Summer Internships will run from May 6 , 20 26 through August 3 0 , 20 2 6 (depending on Intern’s school schedule). The Intern will be responsible for managing one core project while also fulfilling general department duties; such as product sample testing using an Instron test machine and other various types of inspection equipment. Core project duties will require physical sample/data collection in a factory environment, analysis of said samples and subsequent writing of technical reports with results and recommendations for improvement based on findings. The core project would revolve around supporting the IQ/OQ/PQ ( I nstallation / O peration /P erformance Q ualification) o f a n upgraded Aerospace vertical marking line. Other improvement projects include testing and evaluation of key design characteristic changes to inkpots, wire pass line and fixture design, classification of airframe wire and cable extrusion defects, and the generation and updates to various CAD drawings. Judd Wire possesses a strong Kaizen culture with many continual improvement projects underway, and at any time it may be expected of the intern to assist in these improvement activities , or as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Student currently enrolled in an accredited engineering College or University
  • Junior or Senior year preferred
  • Pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or other similar engineering discipline
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have sound time management, organization & presentation skills
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively with cross functional departments including operations, quality, and production control personnel
  • Comfortable and willing to work in a “hands-on” manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software tools such as Minitab and Solidworks a plus
