About The Position

The Office of the CTO is where innovation takes center stage. We inspire our global technical community to take on grand challenges, understand emerging trends, identify the critical inflections, and drive our sustainability, Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices that will define the next generation of semiconductors and continued impact. In this role you will directly contribute to Lam Research’s Aether product group and process development efforts. You will work directly with experienced process and product development engineers developing the Aether products and process. Your work will lead to improvements in the equipment and systems that Lam provides to semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.

Requirements

  • Must be a PhD student (Doctorate) in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering with strong academic standing
  • Strong foundational understanding of physical sciences (Thermodynamics, Physical chemistry)
  • Strong communication skills to convey project summary and results

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of chemical mechanisms in semiconductor materials processing.
  • Experience with thin film analytical methods such as SEM/TEM, XPS, XRD, 4 pt probe, ellipsometry, SIMS
  • Understanding of problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques such as SPC, DOE, 5-why, 8D, fishbones, etc

Responsibilities

  • Work in laboratory and clean-room environments to conduct experiments using laboratory equipment & summarize and analyze experimental test data.
  • Incorporate model-based process development into the experiments and establish correlations of model vs experiments and assist in machine learning based approaches
