About The Position

In the Global Products Group, we are dedicated to excellence in the design and engineering of Lam's etch and deposition products. We drive innovation to ensure our cutting-edge solutions are helping to solve the biggest challenges in the semiconductor industry. In this role you will directly contribute to Lam Research’s PECVD (Plasma Enhance Chemical Vapor Deposition) and ALD (Atomic Layer Deposition) product and process development efforts. You will work directly with experienced process development engineers developing and improving metal and dielectric thin films. Your work will lead to improvements in the equipment and systems that Lam provides to semiconductor manufacturers worldwide.

Requirements

  • Must be a Graduate Student (Masters, PhD) in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science/Engineering.
  • Fluent in English language with strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint to adequately convey project status, experimental plans and conclusions.
  • Understanding of problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques such as SPC, DOE, 5-why, 8D, fishbones, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting working with thin films, semiconductor devices, or solid-state materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with plasma for depositing and etching of thin films.
  • Experience in scripting, coding and modelling of large data sets
  • Experience in Modelling of Reactors and/or Plasmas
  • Experience with thin film analytical methods such as SEM/TEM, XPS, XRD, 4 pt probe, ellipsometry, SIMS.

Responsibilities

  • Work in laboratory and clean-room environments to conduct experiments using laboratory equipment.
  • Learn to operate laboratory equipment for the deposition and characterization of thin films.
  • Plan and execute studies of novel film deposition processes, chemistries, and materials.
  • Summarize and analyze experimental test data.
  • Present and discuss experimental methods, data and analysis with cross-functional teams of engineers and management.
  • Conduct and share literature reviews on relevant research topics.
  • Develop next generation models and analytical methods
