The Pratt & Whitney Columbus Forge Blades (CFB) Module Center Manufacturing Engineering Organization is seeking a Process Manufacturing Engineer to support CFB for machining processes. Responsible for all aspects of machining processes and standing up new machining processes from the ground up including fixturing, process tryout, work instruction, standard work, and gaining engineering source approval. Develop and implement plans that are in line with the business strategy to further our world class technology portfolio; provide operational engineering support to develop technologies and processes which support the growth curve and cost reduction targets. Leverage manufacturing innovations to improve cost, delivery, and quality of aerospace blade forgings; assist with problem solving during manufacturing related investigation; own relentless RCCA for correcting non-conformance in the part families. Optimize, automate and trim waste; maintain work instructions applicable to machining processes including but not limited to grinding, milling, and EDM. Support operational excellence using statistical analysis for process control and certification; develop blade process using statistical methods that meet or exceed the business objective for process control; provide focused & effective leadership in eliminating EH&S/Ergonomics/Human Factors risks and addressing quality issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related technical discipline and 2 or more years' experience in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality or closely related environment or a Master's degree and at least 1 year in an engineering, manufacturing operations, quality or closely related environment
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities in a constantly fluctuating work environment
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in aerospace, industrial, mechanical or manufacturing engineering
  • Understanding of continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma and LEAN concepts
