About The Position

We are looking for a hands-on Process Specialist to support day-to-day manufacturing operations and provide technical leadership across both the ink and varnish production areas. This is a floor-based role, not a desk-bound position—the ideal candidate thrives in an active production environment and engages directly with equipment, materials, and personnel, in strengthening our internal bench for supervisory backup coverage. This position is based at our Springfield, VA, location and follows a standard day shift schedule, with flexibility required to support production needs. Reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager and works closely with Production Supervisors and Technical Teams. This role offers exposure to both technical and supervisory responsibilities, making it an ideal stepping stone for future leadership roles within manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Strong technical and analytical aptitude
  • Comfortable with hands-on production support and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with SAP and batch manufacturing environments
  • Able to work cross-functionally and adapt quickly to shifting priorities
  • Leadership potential and capability to step into supervisory roles as needed
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Educational background in engineering, industrial technology, or a related technical field is preferred
  • Curious mindset with a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in using data tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms for analysis and reporting
  • Willingness to work flexible hours or cover shifts as needed to support production continuity
  • Able to stand, walk, and move about the production floor for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in hot or noisy environments when required
  • Comfortable wearing required PPE and working around chemical handling processes

Nice To Haves

  • Process control knowledge preferred
  • Electrical technician background preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) certification is a plus
  • Formal training in Root Cause Analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, or FMEA) is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on process workflows, equipment, and SAP-related transactions across Ink and Varnish departments
  • Lead and support small-scale improvement projects across both manufacturing areas
  • Assist in ink and varnish production as needed, with the ability to operate at a Class 4 skill level
  • Perform structured process data reviews and drive data-informed decisions
  • Help build and maintain standardized workflows for consistency and efficiency
  • Support documentation, training, and knowledge transfer initiatives
  • Serve as the designated backup for the Ink Production Supervisor and Varnish Plant Process Supervisor
  • Troubleshoot mechanical or process issues quickly and effectively to minimize downtime
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
