About The Position

We are looking for a Processing Manager to join our Agricultural Solutions team supporting our BASF | Nunhems Vegetable Seeds business in Parma, ID. The Processing Manager leads a team of full-time employees and contingent seasonal workers with a focus on safe and compliant operations, people development and operational excellence to ensure high-quality and timely processing of all pre-commercial and commercial seed inventories at the local vegetable seed processing facility. This position may specialize in one or more of the department areas below: Receiving, packaging, warehousing, and shipping. Conditioning, including scalping, cleaning, sorting, and sizing. Maintaining high performing staffing levels within department, requiring appraisal, training and development and career planning by using HR-instruments, guidelines, procedures and advice to select and retain competent employees and ensure an efficient and effective functioning department. Planning, organizing and directing all functions of the assigned sub-department to ensure high-quality and timely execution of pre-commercial and commercial inventories. Overseeing order fulfillment in line with established business requirements for quality and timeliness. Managing business-related activities, including process improvement efforts, complaint resolution, and audit participation and execution of corrective actions. Sub-Department focuses can include: Receiving & Warehousing: Oversee operations to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of seed receiving processes, thereby supporting the supply chain with reliable seed delivery. Ensure all orders are completed on time to meet quality standards with precise labeling and filling of various packaging types to maintain seed integrity and compliance. Manage accurate order picking and physical shipment of seeds to ensure customers receive correct items in optimal condition. Cleaning & Conditioning: Oversee scalping, brushing, cleaning, sorting, and sizing to ensure vegetable seeds meet desired quality specifications. Manage storage conditions and trial seed logistics to support research & commercial readiness. Treatment & Enhancement: Direct the execution of enhancement processes such as disinfection, priming, pelleting, and extraction to meet high-quality standards for commercial seed form. Ensure safe and accurate dosing of fungicides and insecticides on vegetable seeds, maintaining compliance with safety and efficacy standards. Implement and monitor advanced drying techniques to preserve shelf life and quality of enhanced seeds Implementing and monitoring safety protocols and participating in safety campaigns, including ensuring appropriate safety training levels are maintained across the department, as well as managing hazardous waste handling, container inspections, etc. and maintain relevant records. Representing Processing in cross-departmental and cross-functional working groups to ensure collaborative business solutions address departmental needs. Maintaining all equipment in a fully operable and predictable manner.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural or related field preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess 2-5 years of seed industry related experience. Previous experience in seed processing procedures and techniques, preferred.
  • Have 3 years of experience in a supervisory position, preferred.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrate good people management and interpersonal skills, displaying an ability to train and motivate personnel to balance staffing needs.
  • Are able to work as a cross-functional team member at various peak times with energy to complete assigned goals.
  • Possess strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal in English, Spanish a plus.
  • Are able to travel up to 5%, domestically and possibly internationally, as well.
