About the position

The Product Compliance Manager will manage processes related to product compliance without having direct reports. This role involves developing and maintaining the Company's Product Compliance Program through a collaborative team approach. The individual will serve as the Subject Matter Expert on all product regulatory compliance matters, providing solutions for materials and compliance issues, and coordinating technical communication between test labs and engineering teams. The manager will actively participate in design reviews to ensure safety and EMC compliance, create and maintain required regulatory documentation, and represent the company in regulatory audits. The position requires monitoring applicable standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance of products and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage processes, not people, with no direct reports.
  • Own and develop processes to the highest level.
  • Develop and maintain the Company's Product Compliance Program using a collaborative team approach.
  • Serve as the Company's Subject Matter Expert on all product regulatory compliance matters.
  • Provide solutions for materials and compliance issues.
  • Coordinate technical communication between test labs and engineering teams.
  • Actively participate in design reviews of new products to ensure safety and EMC compliance.
  • Create and maintain required product regulatory documentation such as the Technical Construction File, Risk Assessment, and Declaration of Conformity.
  • Work with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to obtain test quotes, test reports, and product safety approvals.
  • Represent the company in quarterly regulatory audits for NRTL-listed products.
  • Monitor applicable standards and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Support internal customer requests with proper compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate, gather, and manage supply chain information to meet ongoing environmental and substance restriction regulations.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years in compliance.
  • Regulatory compliance experience.
  • Compliance management skills.
  • Experience with audit processes.
  • Knowledge of testing labs.
  • Familiarity with low voltage systems.
  • Understanding of electromagnetic compliance.
  • Knowledge of RoHS and REACH regulations.
  • Experience with risk assessment and gap analysis.
  • Familiarity with EMC standards.
  • Knowledge of FCC regulations.
  • Experience with UL, MET, TUV, and CSA safety standards.
  • Understanding of EU regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience as Compliance Engineer/Manager.
  • Working knowledge of IEC, EN, UL, CSA safety & EMC standards.
  • Experience with EMC/FCC testing & troubleshooting.
  • Experience listing products with Certifying Bodies.
  • Experience compiling Test Plans and Technical Documentation.
  • Excellent research and project management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
