About the position

As a Product Design Manager you will be focused on the development, growth and evolution of a group of Product Designers. You will ensure development combines the wants and needs of the individuals with the general direction and maturity of the UX team. The role is people oriented and will allow Product Designers to focus on what they do best, design.

Responsibilities

  • Provide line management for a group of Product Designers, usually, but not exclusively in the same geographic location
  • Clearly define training and development plans to meet individual career aspirations and wider team needs
  • Work with Principal Product Designers and DesignOps to manage resource demands, capability and allocation improvements
  • Help grow Product Design capability and understanding to meet wider business need and priorities
  • Support UX management and Principals to ensure there is clarity on delivery roadmaps across various teams
  • Monitor and develop better ways of supporting and managing resource through transition to a flexible working approach
  • Collaborate with global peers on a consistent but flexible approach to managing our people in alignment with global and local HR requirements
  • Be the go-to person for other areas of the business where resource capacity management is concerned
  • Contribute to the goal of providing our customers with a world class experience
  • Bring an outside in perspective to how best to run a global team, drawing on experience gained through exposure to different organisations and industries
  • Ensure team members adhere to HR and Security requirements, for example data security, fraud and industry relevant codes
  • Implement and monitor team satisfaction measurements working with UX management to address areas of concern
  • Proactively support other managers, both within the same structure and across the business, to educate and develop a 'best in class' management framework
  • Help keep the team healthy by developing the design culture and providing ways to keep things fresh and engaging
  • Ensure that you, and your team, adhere to the Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) obligations within your direct responsibility and control
  • Ensure any non-compliance incidents within your team are raised through the appropriate channels (Compliance Incidents Process) and that your team are informed of any reporting processes relevant to them
  • Challenge processes, policies and projects that will negatively impact compliance within the Group
  • Ensure your team's completion of all mandatory compliance trainings within the set deadline
  • Reach out to the Compliance Teams if unsure of any of your compliance obligations or the requirements are unclear

Requirements

  • Extensive experience managing a team working within a cross-functional delivery set-up
  • Expert knowledge of guiding and supporting team development with or without a background in the discipline
  • Ability to work with UX leaders to align and more importantly address resource challenges/conflicts
  • Experience of building an understanding of team members career aspirations and working with them to identify relevant training and development
  • Proactive and patient individual who can understand the small and big picture and how it affects their team
  • Experience onboarding team members by both following & adapting global process to ensure new team members have a frictionless and rewarding joining experience
  • Extensive knowledge measuring team effectiveness and satisfaction
  • Experience supporting and educating the Objective & Key Result (OKR) framework
