Senior Product Designer at Refinery29

Duties: Create visually engaging, scalable product design solutions for web and mobile products for
editorial, CMS, and commerce platforms. Work on special projects and web-based applications that
enhance the narrative of R29s editorial voice. Develop fully documented designs of interactive web-
based applications that can be easily interpreted and implemented by experienced software developers in
various international locations. Conceptualize ideas and translate concepts into product designs using UX
Design tools, including Axure, Invison, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Keynote, Sketch, Robofont
and Adobe After Effects. Responsible for creating and designing a scalable style guide, typographical
systems, and visual design of R29 products and deliver high-fidelity designs. Follow through products
from inception to create alignment and a shared understanding through collaborative processes on an
international setting between product, development, and design teams, liaising with Designers, Marketers,
and Engineers to define and scope new solutions using Waterfall and Agile development environments.
Evaluate business needs and develop design solutions to effectively address the users needs and goals.
Develop design patterns, standards, and best practices to define and implement design criteria. Translate
usability findings into design improvements. Communicate visual design strategy and rationale to key
stakeholders. Work independently to create, define, and prototype proposed designs and user interactions
using models, high level and detailed prototypes, wireframes, visual compositions and design
specifications to communicate your ideas and test with users. Provide feedback about the usability of our
existing products and communicate ways in which issues can be resolved. Work with engineering team on
details that improve users web-based retail experience, including writing HTML, CSS, and Javascript
code. 40 hours/week.
Qualifications: Must have a Bachelors degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design or related and 3 years of
experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer or related role. Full term of required experience must
involve designing visual interfaces for web products for editorial, CMS, and commerce platforms;
conceptualizing ideas and translating concepts into product designs using UX Design tools, including
Axure, Invison, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Keynote, Sketch, Robofont and Adobe After
Effects; defining and iterating Information Architecture, as well as creating a scalable visual
