Job Overview: Responsible for assisting with the product development & samples creation and providing support in the facilitation of development strategies on behalf of their organization. This position will work to develop an all-round understanding of the entire life cycle of the product development process once an item has been selected from samples to commercialization.

Requirements

  • Completion of college diploma in Culinary Management, Food Science, Nutrition or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years experience in the Food Manufacturing industry
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs repetitively.

Responsibilities

  • Independently directs plant trials and FPR’s, pretrial meetings, measuring, recording and tabulating records on plant trial production details, outcomes, including labour head counts and suitability to production, with or without Product Development & Tech Services support.
  • Conduct bench work in the test kitchen to evaluate new ingredients and flavours
  • Prepare lab samples for the department
  • Conduct Shelf Life studies, collate and distribute finished reports
  • Take ownership of personal project load, remaining flexible to changes in the workload and project expectations
  • Back up another Product Development Assistants / Coordinators on other product categories, making samples and attending plant trials during teammate absences
  • Replace Sample Clerk during vacations and absences
  • Record data in computer systems to complete shelf life evaluation sheets, record information for recipe changes and records information in TVCs under supervision
  • Maintain accurate paperwork for trails, project updates, formulas, and any changes
  • Conduct shelf life testing obtaining samples, scheduling, attending, tabulating, and distributing results
  • Identify areas of improvements and concerns and recommend improvements by providing guidance in product upgrades to meet changing business demands
  • Observe all SQF and HACCP policies
  • Learn technical plant skills by assisting the department with their production lines
  • Participates in Continuous Improvement projects under the Product Developers guidance
  • Assists direct supervisor with Capex commissioning projects
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy of information flow between design, development and Marketing teams
  • Updates Marketing Assistants and Managers on progress of expected customer samples and plant trials
