About The Position

Printpack is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Product Development Engineer I or II for core and market customer product development teams. The position will ideally be in Atlanta, GA with other Printpack locations considered on a case-by-case basis. Responsibilities include: Delivering an exceptional customer experience to our core and growth customers alongside a dynamic team; Collaborating with commercial teams, strategic sourcing, suppliers, and manufacturing to identify customer challenges and areas for growth, delivering value through innovation, project leadership, and continuous improvement; Successfully partnering with internal and external customers to meet Printpack’s objectives, traveling to execute trials at suppliers, Printpack manufacturing sites, and customer packaging locations; Applying a combination of material, manufacturing process, and quality knowledge and experience to develop and optimize superior flexible packaging offerings that meet customer needs and expectations; Participating in strategic account planning and product management of customer specifications; Ensuring rapid, successful project completion, including commercialization of new products through cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing and operations with a specific emphasis on our customers’ sustainability goals; Ability to work both independently and with groups to provide solutions to novel challenges Driving initiatives across the organization, delivering value to the customer, and our manufacturing sites Establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with customer contacts and suppliers with full autonomy In-office data analysis, innovation brainstorming, mock-up creation, and sales support, including bid/quote creation, technical data sheet development, and regulatory reviews; In-plant trial support, including technical guidance, sample collection, coordinating testing, standard operating condition (SOC) creation, and identifying continuous improvement opportunities; At-customer responsibilities, including supporting trials to ensure machinability requirements; being a consultant on the existing portfolio and new opportunities; presenting technical details to target audiences; and leading innovation sessions. Travel commitment: 20 - 40% (U.S. Customer/Printpack plant trials)

Requirements

  • Product development or flexible converting experience preferred
  • Experience considered: engineering or manufacturing experience, flexible packaging (printing/laminating/bag-pouch making/etc.), or a related industry in the capacity of process engineer, and/or process engineering, quality
  • Experience with continuous improvement, driving cost savings, process improvements, and raw material sourcing initiatives
  • Evidence of experience in both innovation and onboarding execution
  • Evidence of relationship building with customers and internal/external stakeholders
  • Evidence of presentation skills and business awareness
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams with business results
