About The Position

Overview Xeris is a growth-oriented biopharmaceutical company committed to improving patient lives by developing and commercializing innovative products across a range of therapies. Xeris is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois and has a strong foundation built on proprietary formulation technologies and deep expertise in clinical development and commercialization. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic intern to join our Formulation Development team. This internship offers hands-on experience in formulation and product development, exposure to real-world projects, and an opportunity to develop professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s/Masters in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences (or related) and has completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate studies.
  • Minimum GPA 3.0.
  • Returning to academic program at a credentialed institution for at least one semester post-internship.
  • Strong interest in Pharmaceutical Science and Formulation Development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hands-on laboratory setting.
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of small and large molecule formulations and the characterization of quality attributes. These activities will include conducting hands-on laboratory studies, preparing reports or presentations, and accurately documenting observations and experimental data.
  • Learn proper usage and maintenance of pharmaceutical manufacturing and analytical characterization equipment.
  • Support routine lab tasks, including preparing buffers, inventory management, analytical sample preparation, and also participate in diverse pharmaceutical formulation development studies.
  • Support the Formulation group in day-to-day studies and activities as needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other groups at Xeris.
  • At the conclusion of the internship, prepare a comprehensive review of the internship experience and present to the organization.
