Job Description
Position Summary: A hand-on extension of the IT Department focused on driving relationships and enhancements to existing products. The Product Owner collaborates with the business, operations, customers, industry experts and cross-functional teams to define, justify, design and deliver solutions that drive business growth.
Responsibilities:
* Ability to lead, influence, direct and grow a small team of Agile Product Owners
* Work with senior management to establish, manage and drive agile methodologies and best practices specifically around product management and product owner disciplines
* Understand and align Business and ITs long term strategies
* Effectively explain complex business processes to a variety of audiences
* Act as the true north for customer value" within a high-velocity agile product development team
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders to elicit product requirements and understand priorities
* Develop business cases for new products and significant product enhancements including identification of problem, proposed solution, market sizing, sales projection, costs, execution planning/management etc.
* Develop and maintain the product roadmap and backlog by identifying and prioritizing necessary features
* Decompose product roadmap features into documented user stories (requirements)
* Provide support and clarify needs for the development teams to contribute to development, implementation, and performance of the new solution
* Liaise with Agile Project Manager to assist with driving feature vs. schedule vs. resources tradeoff decisions.
* Work with Agile Project Manager to identify, elevate and/or mitigate risk items which could impact delivery due to product performance, product cost, or product scalability
* Review and accept user stories, participate in user acceptance testing and continuously orchestrate functional acceptance of valuable working software.
* Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to develop test scripts, test plan and support and coordinate user acceptance testing
* Work with Agile Project Manager to establish and execute the product launch process to ensure the organization is ready to train, deploy, and support the product in the market
* Determine product success by measuring actual results of the release/product against the business case expectations
* Maintain acute awareness of competitors product offerings and recommends product enhancements to keep ahead of the market
* Develop and maintain product documentation, product instructions and user guides, product metrics, sales and marketing content strategy
* Coordinate with designers, developers and testers to created functional specifications
* May attend trade shows, technical conferences and symposiums to promote product
* Ensure that the Scrum team verifies against the Done Definition, ensure the Done Definition adheres to quality standards
* Coach/mentor team on the Agile Scrum methodology in order to constantly improve the Scrum teams standards of work
* Assist business teams with understanding the existing system capabilities, and features being delivered in a project as and when possible
* Guide individual team members on areas of improvement
Job Requirements
Qualifications required:
* Bachelors or Masters degree in computer science, management information systems, business administration or a related discipline
* Minimum 5 years experience designing and building new SaaS/web products and enhancing existing products
* CSPO/CSM certification
* Demonstrated ability to exert influence and deliver on capabilities without having direct control over all participating resources
* Experience with agile project management tools (VersionOne, JIRA, TFS, Confluence, Rally or equivalent)
* Proven ability to lead a team using new technology and positive leadership skills
* Ability to interact with both business/operations and IT teams
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
