Overview of the Product Owner: The Product Owner leads product strategy and execution for assigned offerings within capital markets and financial services technology, managing the full lifecycle from market discovery through launch and ongoing optimization. The Product Owner evaluates market structure changes, competitive dynamics, client demand trends, pricing, and product profitability to guide strategic decisions. In this role, you will work closely with trading, operations, technology, and commercial teams to define requirements, prioritize the roadmap, and deliver data‑driven product outcomes. Supports small- to mid-sized clients and projects while influencing timelines and proactively negotiating trade-offs to ensure delivery against market and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in product management for financial services technology, preferably in the securities operations or capital markets
  • Proven track record managing enterprise B2B products through the full lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated Product Owner experience with Agile/Scrum, including backlog management, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and roadmap prioritization skills, with the ability to translate complex operational needs into clear technical specifications.
  • Deep understanding of securities operations workflows and data flows.
  • Familiarity with financial messaging standards such as SWIFT and DTCC.
  • Experience with data platforms, architectures, data modeling, and systems thinking.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks impacting brokerage operations (e.g., SEC, FINRA).
  • Understanding of emerging AI/ML applications in financial services.
  • Proven ability to partner with engineering, design, operations, compliance, and client‑facing teams.
  • Experience developing business cases and presenting to executives.
  • Comfortable gathering requirements and validating solutions with enterprise clients.
  • Ability to collaborate across product lines and organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of product strategy and roadmap, prioritizing features based on business goals, customer impact, and ROI.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify trends, client needs, demand patterns, and whitespace opportunities, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Define detailed product requirements (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) and ensure alignment with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Manage Agile/Scrum processes, including backlog refinement, sequencing work, and balancing new features with technical debt.
  • Oversee quality assurance to ensure features meet functional, regulatory, and internal standards.
  • Monitor product KPIs and operational metrics to drive data‑informed decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback to inform post‑launch enhancements, resolve issues quickly, and improve usability and performance.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables remain on track, while negotiating trade‑offs and influencing expectations to maintain momentum.
