We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our engineering team at a rapidly growing valve manufacturing organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for product sustaining engineering efforts across both existing and new valve product lines. This role involves addressing and resolving quality issues to ensure uninterrupted production, implementing strategies to decrease production costs, increase first pass yield, reduce non-conformances, and maintaining a high level of quality that meets industry standards and customer expectations. This position is crucial for maintaining our competitiveness in the market by driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate internal and external product or process failures, perform RCA, and execute supporting corrective and preventative action.
  • Follow-up on RMA trends, report on quality/RMA status to cross-functional teams, and drive corrective action back through manufacturing as necessary.
  • Review and define quality test standards to minimize product quality issues.
  • Assist in the development of testing protocols and assist in the testing process for new and existing valves.
  • Lead efforts to reduce variation through design improvements of legacy products.
  • Participate in conceptualizing and implementing improvement ideas for legacy and new development products/projects.
  • Participate in activities related to project phase gate design reviews necessary for production sustaining.
  • Assist with 3rd party suppliers, contractors, testing houses, etc.
  • Work with Operations on continuous improvement on yields and process/test stability.
  • Work with Operations to qualify new component sources.
  • Support statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Establish standard operating procedures and engage the operations team to ensure these are followed.
  • Train and certify technicians and maintain process documentation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and processes to ensure that products meet customer, supplier, and industry standards.
  • Ensure that products are of the highest quality through process improvements, inspections, and testing.
  • Analyze and document defects and feedback from customers and warranty data.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance standards to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Conduct required audits to verify product and process quality and capability.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel on quality control protocols and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance and integration of regulatory requirements (UL, ASME, etc).
  • Own the companywide corrective action process for internal and external product issues.
  • Develop PFMEA, Control Plans, Turtle diagrams, and process flow charts.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing WI's, SOP's, and production reporting.
  • Prepare procedures for part inspection, including layout, in-process, final, and receiving.
  • Prepare inspection reports and coordinate internal process/product audits.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in root cause analysis using 8D corrective action.
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, and ISO 9001.
  • Moderate manufacturing environment experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
