About the position
The position involves loading, unloading, and moving materials within or near a plant, yard, or work site. The individual will perform various duties including reading pick lists to ascertain materials or containers to be moved, using Radio Frequency Readers (RF reader) to relieve inventory, and recording serial numbers and invoice items picked. The role requires loading and unloading materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand, as well as securing cargo in vehicles to prevent damage. Additionally, the individual will verify and document shipping information, assemble crates for bulk-pack products, and prepare shipments for air and ocean transportation. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Reads pick list to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Uses Radio Frequency Readers (RF reader) to relieve inventory, record serial numbers and invoice items picked.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
- Loads materials into vehicles and secures cargo as appropriate to prevent damage.
- Moves load to appropriate transportation vehicle.
- Verifies and documents appropriate shipping information as required and attaches safety and other required labels.
- Assembles crates to contain bulk-pack products.
- Prepares shipments for air and ocean transportation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
- Training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Ability to effectively communicate and perform required documentation.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Nice-to-haves
- Willingness to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled.
