As our Production Technician, you will provide support to all areas of seed production and perform all tasks associated with general plant operations and field activities. Responsibilities vary throughout the year and may include crop production, detasseling, harvest, conditioning, packaging, or warehousing activities.

Requirements

  • Efficiently and safely perform tasks, ensuring high seed quality.
  • Quick learner, adept at operating diverse equipment.
  • Adaptable to various environments—hot, cold, wet, or dry.
  • Capable of working solo or in a team, with strong communication skills.
  • Proactive in adjusting to changes and anticipating needs.
  • Confident decision-maker with excellent safety practices.
  • Organized and skilled in forklift operation.
  • Familiar with OSHA General Industry standards.
  • Minimum of two years of on-the-job or related agricultural experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and remain insurable under company auto policy.
  • Possess or willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in agriculture or ag-related field; preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and test moisture levels of ear corn from the fields.
  • Help with husking, sorting, and drying operations, including sample collection, moisture checks, and equipment monitoring.
  • Assist in shelling and bulk storage during harvest.
  • Operate and maintain conditioning equipment like cleaners, sizers, color sorters, gravity tables, and packaging machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and communicate equipment needs with production staff.
  • Obtain a chemical operator’s license and manage basic computer tasks, inventory, and tagging.
  • Conduct field inspections, operate machinery, and assist with seed retagging and re-bagging.
  • Pre-stage seeds for delivery and may deliver seeds to customers and Seed Reps.
  • Complete forklift training to become a certified operator.
  • May assist with the supervision of seasonal staff as needed and ensure all work is done safely according to company policies.
