About The Position

Working leader responsible for coordinating daily manufacturing activities for multiple departments within an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) contract manufacturing environment. Supports Production Supervision by leading assigned production areas or lines to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals are met while maintaining compliance with ISO standards, ITAR regulations, and 6S workplace practices. Manages day-to-day operations of multiple areas bridging the gap between operators and management by translating production goals into actionable tasks, supporting team development, and maintaining workflow efficiency. This is a non-exempt position and is expected to perform direct production work in addition to leadership responsibilities. Function as facilitators, mentors, and communicators within the departments.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of EMS manufacturing processes (SMT, PTH, assembly, test, inspection, or related areas)
  • Technical knowledge of multiple areas of production
  • Leadership and organization skills to direct work effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and emotional intelligence to inspire and guide teams
  • Ability to manage conflict tactfully and professionally
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and navigate challenges effectively

  • Communication and people skills for mediating between upper management and departments
  • Understanding of ITAR-controlled environments and export compliance requirements

  • High School degree or GED required; Associates or higher in technical area preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of leadership, lead operator, or supervisory experience preferred (or demonstrated leadership capability for internal candidates).
  • Experience working in an ITAR-regulated and/or ISO-certified environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on production and technical duties across assigned departments (e.g., SMT, through-hole, box build, test, rework, or other EMS processes as applicable)
  • Provide daily direction, work assignments, and performance feedback to production team members
  • Monitor workflow, staffing levels, and material availability to ensure continuous production flow
  • Escalate constraints affecting schedule, quality, or delivery to appropriate management
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and industry guidelines; as well as company policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot production issues, including machinery down time, and collaborating with maintenance teams to resolve
  • Enforce ESD, workmanship standards (IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 if applicable), and customer-specific requirements
  • Promote and sustain 6S standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) within assigned areas
  • Train and cross-train employees in processes, quality standards, safety practices, and compliance requirements
  • Address basic employee issues and escalate to management or human resources as appropriate
  • Ensure employees understand job expectations, documentation requirements, and production priorities
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
