About The Position

As a Manager of Production for Opry Events, you'll be responsible for production technical operations and show advancement with a specific focus on concerts and private events at the Grand Ole Opry House. You'll oversee event production and special programming at the Opry House, Studio A, and the Opry Plaza, as well as provide support for the Grand Ole Opry shows. As the ideal candidate, you'll bring proven production experience, strong leadership, and technical expertise to deliver world-class execution and high-quality experiences for visiting artists, production teams, clients, and guests. Reports to Senior Manager of Production & Technical Services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 8+ years experience working in production services in a national touring and/or house theatrical production position, or 5+ years experience with a degree in production/media-related studies
  • Extensive experience managing show crews, working with union stagehand settlements, drafting production estimates and settlements, advancing shows, managing and scheduling a staff of technicians, managing an inventory of equipment, and overseeing production transportation logistics
  • Effective interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish clear direction, set goals, monitor progress and measure results
  • Passion for the entertainment business and compassion for people
  • Capable of creating fun in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and long, irregular hours to support business needs
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Forklift & Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification required upon hire
  • Must complete OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification within 120 days of hire
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record require

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical production, show advance, crew scheduling and operations for concerts and private events.
  • Create event production budgets and labor estimates and provide settlement recaps.
  • Provide onsite production supervision during events, serving as Stage Manager as necessary.
  • Work with Technical Services staff to coordinate equipment logistics and trucking for event productions.
  • Attend event meetings and client site surveys. Communicate venue limitations, tour interruptions, and maintenance needs. Maintain department-specific events notes.
  • Work with department and corporate leadership on approved capital upgrade projects and make recommendations for the development of future projects. Maintain project timelines and budgets for various capital upgrades and other special projects.
  • Maintain awareness of current audio/visual/lighting technologies and production vendors, with the ability to evaluate and specify the proper equipment for the application.
  • Interface with the information technology department and other departments concerning technical systems.
  • Ensure that all equipment is properly operated, maintained, and used safely, in accordance with proper industry standards. Maintain a safe and secure environment for artists, clients, employees, etc., following all codes, laws, regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Communicate and uphold all corporate standards, guidelines, policies and procedures in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations. Maintain personal integrity by abiding by and supporting the values and principles of the company. Follow and support brand SOPs.
