About The Position

We are seeking a Production Floor Manager with strong machining experience to lead daily operations in a high-mix, high-volume machining environment. This role is highly hands-on and focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people leadership. The ideal candidate is a visible floor leader who understands machining processes, drives accountability, and improves performance through data, standard work, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience in a machining environment.
  • 3+ years of production or floor leadership experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and setups.
  • Experience in high-mix / high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and hold accountability on the shop floor.
  • Comfortable using production metrics and data to drive decisions.
  • Knowledge of ISO and TS standards and systems
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to coach and counsel employees
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
  • Experience leading through change or operational improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily machining operations across assigned production areas, which may include: Primary Operations - ACME’s, Swiss, CNC, Schutte, Hydromats, and Grinding or; Secondary Operations – CNC, Brother, Broaches, Drill, Mills, Deburr, and Assembly
  • Ensure production targets for safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency are met.
  • Balance labor, machines, and priorities in a dynamic, high-mix / high-volume environment.
  • Identify constraints and adjust schedules and resources in real time.
  • Escalate risks early and drive corrective actions to prevent missed deliveries.
  • Directly lead supervisors, leads, and hourly associates.
  • Set clear expectations, reinforce standard work, and hold teams accountable.
  • Conduct regular floor walks, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Support training, cross-training, and skill development for machinists and operators.
  • Build a culture of engagement, ownership, and accountability.
  • Enforce safety standards, housekeeping, and safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems, inspection plans, and control plans.
  • Lead root cause analysis for safety incidents, scrap, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat issues.
  • Use production data and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead structured problem-solving (RCA, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Improve throughput, changeover time, scrap, and labor efficiency.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Scheduling to improve processes.
  • Support lean initiatives, standard work, and visual management.
  • Communicate daily priorities and expectations to the floor.
  • Participate in production meetings and report performance vs. plan.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve material, tooling, or capacity issues.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and follow-through on action items.
