About The Position

Position Summary: The LD Blast position’s responsibilities is to remove paint, roughing surfaces, removing oil film, and other particles from parts and materials. Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): Use of Protective Sandblasting Suit with breathing apparatus is required in blasting area. Utilize crane to load and unload parts from blasting area. Use tugger to manipulate heavy cart loads. Proficient in use of profilometer to measure blast profile. Select prioritization from dispatch list or supervisors’ instructions to determine which items to be blasted. Inspect working equipment and replace any warn parts. Visually inspect parts that have been blasted to ensure quality of work. Ability to recognize nonconforming/defective products. Able to key in labor after completion with the following information: Operator number, work order number, operation, release, quantity accepted, quantity rejected, and discrepancy code. Rework parts that are returned, without work worders. Maintain a clean and orderly work area. Essential Qualifications / Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift. Must have basic blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform job. Must have basic math skills including addition / subtraction of fractions and decimal values for determining material, manufacturing, and inspection requirements. Must have ability to read measuring instruments not limited to but including tape measure, mil. Thickness gage, and fluid measuring units, and callipers. Must have good hand-eye coordination, grip strength and dexterity to perform paint and paint preparation using hand and power equipment at established production standards. Must have basic reading / writing ability to read and interpret manufacturing orders and material requirements and to report production. Must be able to stand for 8 hours per day.
