What you’ll do Core Responsibilities Perform daily safety audits to ensure team member safety. Complete problem-solving activities to eliminate safety hazards. Escalate immediate safety concerns and incidents to the Safety team. Actively support 5S actions within the plant. Document internal and external quality issues. Discuss internal quality issues with the team and complete problem-solving activities to prevent recurring issues. Escalate external quality issues to the Quality team with urgency. Monitor pace of the line ensuring takt times are met. Escalate production stoppage and develop short-term countermeasures. Review daily schedule and sequence to ensure daily goals will be achieved. Plan for team member absences to ensure production goals are met. Review daily staffing requirements to ensure productivity goals are maintained. Perform problem-solving activities to eliminate waste and increase efficiency. Track team member morale and discuss potential opportunities with the team. Effectively communicate changes to team members. Work with the team to complete rapid daily problem solving. Attend improvement events and communicate results and action items with the team. Participate in interview and selection processes for new team members. Develop cross‑training plans for team members to learn all tasks within a manufacturing line. Participate in and complete performance evaluations. Coach and help team members understand KPI metrics and expected behaviors. Expanded Area Ownership & Leadership Responsibilities Hydraulic Hose Production Ownership Lead and support all production teams responsible for generating hydraulic hoses required for manufacturing and our aftermarket replacement parts demand. Ensure output meets established safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) expectations. Maintain flow, staffing, productivity, and readiness for daily and weekly demand. Shared Services Subassembly Leadership Oversee the shared services subassembly area that provides subassemblies supporting multiple product lines and our aftermarket replacement parts demand. Align workflow, capacity planning, and staffing to maintain efficient support for downstream operations. Resource Team Leadership & Coordination The Resource Team is a cross-functional group whose mission is to support production continuity and improvement. In this role, you will: Provide day-to-day direction and coordination for the Resource Team, who maintain a separate reporting structure but serve as a flexible labor and improvement resource for production. Deploy Resource Team members to backfill for absences, ensuring flow and schedule attainment. Utilize the Resource Team to support daily continuous improvement activities, including waste elimination, problem solving, and standard work refinement. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering (ME), Quality Assurance (QA), and Production teams to support larger-scale improvement initiatives. Leverage this experienced and cross trained team to drive performance improvements tied to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost key metrics across production. Support efforts to improve material flow, reduce bottlenecks, enhance visual management, and strengthen team capability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership skills; minimum 2 years of Production Team Leader experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential business and product information.
  • Initiative to recognize improvement opportunities and drive appropriate action.
  • Ability to identify problems and work toward root cause elimination using structured problem‑solving methods.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; challenges the status quo and pursues stretch goals; collaborates cross-functionally; strives for personal development.
  • Ability to stand/sit for a full 10-hour shift
  • Physical Requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and/or awkward items

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of production leadership experience.
  • Formal Lean training and supervisory experience.
