About The Position

The Production Supervisor is a frontline management role responsible for the direct oversight of Team Leaders and their respective production cells. The primary focus is the tactical execution of the daily production plan while maintaining a safe and high-quality work environment. The Supervisor serves as the first line of support for Team Leaders, troubleshooting operational hurdles, ensuring standardized work is followed, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement at the shop-floor level.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in a related field is preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership role (such as a Team Leader or Lead Hand)
  • Familiarity with MIG/Spot welding processes, robotics, and basic mechanical troubleshooting
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills and communication.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate a diverse workforce and manage high-pressure situations calmly
  • Solid leadership skills
  • Sound judgment in decision-making and establishing priorities as well as consistency
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods on a concrete floor and flexibility to work rotating shifts or weekend overtime as required by the production schedule.

  • Lifting up to 10 pounds – must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

  • Individuals must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when on the shop floor, which includes Head Protection, hearing protection; safety eye protection, gloves, sleeves, and steel-toed safety shoes, and a High Visibility Vest.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of Team Leaders and Production Associates to meet daily production quotas, ensuring efficient flow and minimal downtime
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all team members and leaders
  • Act as the immediate technical and leadership resource for Team Leaders when issues arise regarding equipment, materials, or personnel
  • Will be responsible for tracking of KPIS, OA, PPM and Scrap in their area of responsibility.
  • Oversee TPS (Toyota Production System) and the Eight Step Problem Solving principles to analyze bottlenecks and potential safety and quality issues in their area of responsibility. Will also use these tools to prevent reoccurrence
  • Responsible for the approvals, scheduling, and tracking of PTOs for the Team Members under their responsibility
  • Ensure that all Team Leaders are training and auditing their teams according to established standardized work instructions to maintain process consistency
  • Lead continuous improvement activities for assigned areas
  • Focus heavily on developing the leadership and problem-solving skills of Team Leaders, preparing them for future growth within the company.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including hourly output tracking, scrap reports, and attendance logs, reporting any significant variances to the Assistant Manager.
  • Will be involved in the interviewing of Team Leader candidates and assist in the selection process
  • Conduct regular safety walks and "5S" audits within the assigned area. Ensure all team members are using PPE correctly and following lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for robotic and welding equipment.
  • Monitor the condition of welding jigs, robots, and assembly tools, coordinating with Maintenance to schedule repairs or preventive tasks.
  • Address floor-level personnel issues, grievances, or performance gaps promptly and fairly in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead the "containment" process if a quality defect is found, working with Team Leaders to identify the root cause and restart production safely once a countermeasure is in place.
  • Encourage and implement "bottom-up" improvement ideas (Kaizen) from Team Leaders and Associates to reduce waste and improve ergonomics.
  • Will conduct disciplinary actions within the company’s guidelines
  • Work with other members of management and other departments to make a great working environment and open communication
  • Present and Interact in Budget Planning, Hoshin Review, and Performance Reviews for staff.
  • Supports compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance, and make ethical decisions
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in manufacturing
  • Assists the Manager in project planning and implementation of new processes/procedures as well as month-end reporting
  • Drafts, submits, and presents various performance and management reports
  • Implement, maintain applicable management system, processes, monitors and continually improve its results
  • Ensures that the facility is in compliance with federal, state and local environmental requirements
  • Oversee the training progress of new hires within the department, ensuring they are properly certified on specific tasks before working independently.
  • Must ensure the safety of work assignments and workspaces, assign safety training related to hazards, provide safety procedures and equipment, correctly identified hazards (where practicable). Look into the causes of incidents and take action to prevent similar incidents and take action to prevent similar incidents and discuss safety in regular meetings and performance reviews
