Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities around the world, and we've designed the system with the capacity, flexibility, and performance to serve a wide range of customers — from individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Amazon Leo is seeking a Test Lab Engineer to join the Space Simulation Test Lab (SSL) supporting satellite production on a Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule. In this role, you will support high-throughput environmental testing of satellite sub-assemblies, with a primary focus on Thermal, TVAC, and HALT/HASS testing. You will work closely with the Environmental Engineering team and lab operations to sustain and improve current production test processes while also supporting the development, validation, and deployment of new test methodologies as Leo continues to scale manufacturing operations. Key job responsibilities Support high-throughput environmental screening of satellite sub-assemblies using Thermal Vacuum (TVAC), Thermal Stress, and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening) or HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) systems in a high-traceability production environment. Operate and maintain environmental chambers, cryogenic cooling infrastructure, and HASS vibration tables used for production stress screening. Partner with Environmental Test Engineering and lab operations to sustain and improve environmental test processes, ensuring tests are executed safely, repeatably, and in compliance with established procedures. Troubleshoot issues involving environmental test equipment, HASS vibration tables, chamber control systems, web-based controller interfaces, Automated Test Equipment (ATE) racks, and Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems to maintain production throughput. Assist in the development, validation, and implementation of environmental screening procedures, including combined thermal and vibration screening profiles used in HASS operations. Analyze test data and investigate off-nominal behavior to identify potential hardware, instrumentation, or environmental test setup issues, partnering with engineering teams to determine root cause and corrective actions. Ensure test readiness by validating chamber configurations, instrumentation setups, vibration table readiness, and hardware fixturing prior to execution. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve environmental test reliability, reduce setup time, and increase lab operational efficiency. Maintain accurate documentation and traceability of test configurations, results, and anomalies. Promote a safe working environment when operating environmental chambers, vacuum systems, cryogenic equipment, and HASS vibration systems. A day in the life The Space Simulation Lab is a fast-paced and dynamic environment where you will work closely with lab operations and engineering teams to sustain environmental testing of satellite hardware. In this role, you will help remove production blockers, troubleshoot thermal chambers, vacuum systems, and HASS screening equipment, and ensure instrumentation and automated test systems are operating correctly. You will support high-throughput TVAC, thermal stress, and HASS testing while helping improve test procedures and lab best practices. Your work will directly support reliable production screening while continuously improving the capability, efficiency, and safety of the environmental test lab.
