About The Position

The Program Assistant for the Utah Registry for Professional Development (URPD) at Utah State University provides support for early childhood and school-age professional development initiatives. This position is responsible for processing applications, managing online submissions in coordination with the Utah Office of Child Care and the USU accounting system. The role includes providing technical assistance and responding to inquiries from child care providers and the public via phone, email, and mail. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in early childhood education or child care. This position in contingent upon ongoing grant funding. The Utah Registry for Professional Development (URPD) administers professional development programs for Utah’s early care and out-of-school-time workforce. These programs include Utah’s Career Ladder, Financial Incentives, Scholarships, Grants, and the Workforce Registry. URPD is funded by the Utah Office of Child Care and Utah State University. Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years of office or administrative experience, or an associate degree plus two years of experience.
  • Minimum of some college coursework or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, data entry, internet-based systems, and general computer use.
  • Experience handling confidential information.

Nice To Haves

  • Training or experience with USU procedures and accounting systems preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in early childhood education or child care preferred.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in child development, elementary education, special education or related degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, databases, and record maintenance.
  • Ability to collect, compile, and report data accurately.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of general accounting and budgeting principles.
  • Knowledge of child development, child care systems, CDA, and national accreditation standards.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to evolving program and field requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Process professional development applications and online submissions. (80%)
  • Provide technical assistance to child care providers. (5%)
  • Respond to and route inquiries regarding child care service. (5%)
  • Perform other assigned duties. (10%)
