About The Position

The MBBA is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the planning, coordination, and execution of programs that serve Black-owned businesses across Michigan. The Program Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that MBBA’s programs run smoothly, stay organized, and deliver a high-quality experience for participants, partners, and stakeholders. This role will work closely with program leadership and internal teams to manage logistics, communications, data tracking, and day-to-day operational needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable with program logistics, event coordination, organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated by mission-driven work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, or related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • 1-3 years experience in program coordination, operations, nonprofit work, or related field
  • Willingness to embrace our “member-first” focus and provide high-quality customer service in environments that require quick thinking, tact, and rapid problem-solving
  • Strong organizational time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Experience working in fast-paced and/or rapidly changing environments where flexibility, adaptability, and strong follow-through are essential
  • Reliable access to transportation and willingness to travel locally or statewide as needed
  • Alignment with MBBA’s mission and commitment to closing the racial wealth gap by advocating for Black-owned businesses

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and execution of MBBA programs, events, and initiatives
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, registration, materials, and follow-up communications
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events including workshops, seminars, networking sessions, and conferences that cater to the needs and interests of Black-owned businesses
  • Track program data, attendance, deliverables, and outcomes following internal processes
  • Assist with the preparation of program materials, reports, and documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure alignment on timelines, responsibilities, and communications
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with our members, community leaders, government officials, youth, business assistance and funding partners within the small business ecosystem to ensure
  • Travel for program-related activities as required
