Raytheon’s Advanced Technology (AT) is an exciting, agile, and dynamic team developing key enabling technology discriminators for our Raytheon core and future franchise products and developing and demonstrating new systems and capabilities that transition to production programs of record. We are seeking a highly motivated Program Director for a space-based program. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of the Alternate Missions & Space Portfolio and is responsible for leading all aspects of program execution and growth for the newly awarded program. This unique capability will establish a space-based missile defense system capable of demonstrating an end-to-end missile defense capability over the next 2 years. The program is internally funded, so resources will be a premium. This role is onsite and can be located in Tucson, AZ, Huntsville, AL, or El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 14 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 12 years experience
  • P&L responsibility of a program experience managing a program from development through production
  • Technical experience within effectors and space domain
  • Experience managing teams and customer relationships
  • Active and transferrable Top Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while maintaining focus on delivery commitments
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, actionable messages for leadership audiences including a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing large/complex program execution efforts in development, production and/or sustainment programs in the defense industry
  • Strong proficiency in developing and presenting Strategic Plans, AOP, Technology Roadmaps, and planning to senior management, and responsibility for executing plans
  • Experience with program risk and opportunity (R&O) process to include program revenue and profit recognition to minimize risk to the organization
  • Program Management Level 3 Certification or external equivalency PM certifications, with ability to obtain higher program management certification as required

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team to include strategy development, internal and external program reviews, and program development through direct customer engagement, supplier management, and program management status reporting
  • Ensure successful program execution and prioritize resources where necessary and drive execution while meeting strategic objectives
  • Lead internal reviews and executive briefings pertaining to all pursuits to include Gates, EACs, contract proposals, negotiations and definitization efforts
  • Work closely with the Senior Director to establish a cohesive team that is organized for program success
  • Develop and nurture customer intimacy and relationships
  • Onsite with travel up to 50% of the time
