About The Position

Under supervision, coordinates special programs and events to bring programming resources to parks that would otherwise be unavailable. Performs related duties as required. The Athletics Program & Event Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing youth and community-based athletic programs, leagues, and special events across all three regions of the Park District. This role ensures high-quality programming that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, safety, and positive youth engagement. The coordinator works collaboratively with supervisors, instructors, Grant funding partners, and site staff to deliver structured, inclusive, and well-organized athletic experiences across multiple locations. Travel across all three regions to support programming, staff, and site operations. Oversee site logistics including scheduling, equipment distribution, and facility setup. Manage budgets, track expenses, and coordinate vendor or partner relationships. Work evenings and weekends as required to support league play, tournaments, and special events.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field supplemented by three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
  • Knowledge of education and curriculum design principles.
  • Ability to understand and implement elements of community-based programming.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Organization and planning skills.
