About The Position

The Center for Experimental & Applied Economics (CEAE) was established in 2014 and serves as the research hub for experimental economics at the University of Delaware. Affiliated researchers include faculty members, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Depending on the semester, there are typically 25-30 researchers and research assistants actively engaging with CEAE. CEAE’s mission is to “Nurture a diverse and inclusive community engaged in innovative, evidence-based research and dissemination of results to inform policy and promote sustainability at the nexus of agriculture and the environment.” The Mentoring Network Program and the Applied Economics and Experimental Research (APEX) Internship are two key programs designed to support experiential learning and professional development. The Program Manager, under the general direction of the CEAE Director, manages development activities, communications, and student engagement programs, ensuring alignment with CEAE’s mission and long-term growth. The Program Manager plays a central role in advancing development initiatives and external funding opportunities, expanding the visibility of CEAE and its affiliated researchers, and shaping the student experience. The Program Manager works closely with other CEAE staff and affiliated researchers and is required to manage multiple programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Adobe; Google Docs/Drive.
  • Ability to translate strategic goals into operational plans.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with competing deadlines.
  • Willingness to occasionally work during evenings or weekends to support CEAE events.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Obtain certification to conduct research involving human subjects by the Institutional Review Board within 30 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grant writing, management, and report writing preferred.
  • Experience in higher education or research environments preferred.
  • Experience supervising staff or student employees preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities aligned with CEAE’s mission and strategic priorities; lead the development, coordination, and submission of competitive grant proposals in collaboration with the Director.
  • Oversee grant management and reporting processes, including budget oversight, compliance documentation, and team coordination.
  • Support development and fundraising initiatives in coordination with University partners.
  • Coordinate CEAE communications and outreach efforts , including management of the CEAE website and social media platforms, and development of materials that promote CEAE programs, research, and student initiatives within the University and professional applied economics associations.
  • Oversee the production of CEAE marketing materials for events and programs in collaboration with the CEAE Leadership Team and the CANR Communications team.
  • Lead and manage the design, implementation, and evaluation of the Mentoring Network and APEX Internship, consistent with the strategic direction established by the CEAE Director and Advisory Board, providing students with mentorship and experiential learning opportunities and strengthening undergraduate and graduate student engagement within CEAE.
  • Ensure continuous program improvement by eliciting and responding to feedback from faculty, staff, students, and other partners.
  • Recruit, onboard, and supervise student staff members, providing guidance, support, and expectations, and helping to create a space for their professional growth.
  • Actively contribute ideas and recommendations to support CEAE’s mission and objectives, and assist the Director with strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Serve as a liaison to the office of the Chair of the Department of Applied Economics & Statistics (APEC) and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) Communications Team regarding matters of CEAE student programs, communications, outreach, and fundraising.
  • Contribute to policies, procedures, and standards for CEAE programs to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality control of the activities of CEAE and to ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and standards.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
