About The Position

The mission of Mary Hall Freedom Village, Inc. (MHFV) is to empower women, children, veterans, and families to end the cycle of homelessness, addiction, and poverty. Headquarters are in Sandy Springs, GA and with seven facilities across metro Atlanta, Mary Hall Freedom Village has been transforming the lives of participants in need for the last 26+ years. The Program Services Counselor provides individual and group counseling to participants and families diagnosed with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Identifies at-risk behaviors and formulates appropriate clinical interventions to assist the participant in making healthy choices and decisions to promote abstinence and recovery.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED, CDA, or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred
Minimum of 1-2 years of childcare experience.
Complete 10 hours of Health & Safety Orientation Training within the first 90 days
Obtain Pediatric First Aid & CPR Certification within 90 days of hire
Pass a Comprehensive Background Check
Complete 20 hours of annual training each year after the first year
High energy.
Ability to work well with others.
Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
An understanding of child development.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels.
May be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
Be able to lift 40lbs.
3- Year Motor Vehicle Report
TB Test; Drug Testing
Work performed in office / childcare environment.
Standard Work Schedule: M-F. (As needed)

Responsibilities

Interviews participants, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate and assess participant’s needs.
Facilitates individual and group sessions and ensures timely documentation of participant progress.
Educates and counsels family members about the disease of addiction and their role in supporting the participants in their recovery journey.
Refers participants to other support services and community resources as needed.
Monitors participants’ progress and evaluates their success.
Utilizes best practices in therapeutic interventions, techniques, and modalities.
Maintains accurate and efficient documentation for participants in electronic health record system.
Attends weekly multidisciplinary meetings and provides updates on participants’ progress.
Assists participant in developing SMART treatment plan goals and objectives.
Completes monthly treatment plan reviews to assess participants’ progress.
Maintains current credentials, licensing and CEU’s as required for the position.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this job classification.
