About The Position

Performs routine consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves assisting with planning, developing, and implementing an agency program and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff, governmental agencies, community organizations, and the public. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Business Administration or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.
  • Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
  • Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
  • Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.
  • Skill in problem-solving techniques.
  • Skill in the use of computers and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area network environment.
  • Skill to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
  • Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports in an automated system.
  • Skill to train others.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize, lift and carry under 15 lbs., perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Program administration, public administration, technical support, research, auditing, accounting, administrative support, or statistical analysis experience preferred.
  • Financial operations or purchasing experience preferred.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the preparation of administrative reports, studies, and specialized projects; and works with program staff in determining trends and resolving technical programs.
  • Assists with the collection, organization, analysis, and preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports.
  • Performs an array of technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities related to program assignment.
  • Monitors and reviews compliance with requirements, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; assists in the development of policy and procedure manuals; and provides technical assistance in the program area.
  • Provides support and assists in program planning, development, and implementation; assists with the review of program area operations to identify areas in need of change; assists with the development of plans to improve and address areas of concern; and assists in preparing justifications for the implementation of procedural and policy changes.
  • Serves as a liaison to staff, government agencies, community organizations, or the public to assist in explaining program specifics and requirements.
  • Assists in preparing and evaluating program budget results.
