About The Position

This is a highly responsible professional position supporting the state review and approval process for teacher preparation programs based on the Bureau’s needs. The role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining effective performance under pressure. The employee is assigned to a dedicated functional area and is expected to engage professionally and courteously with internal and external stakeholders, supporting a productive and positive work environment. Regular attendance is essential, and occasional travel may be required based on the Bureau’s needs.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional experience in education or related field.
  • Ability to prepare reports; to develop, evaluate, and interpret programs, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review and approval of initial state-approved teacher preparation and educator preparation institute programs, including preparation of the final institutional report.
  • Provide targeted technical assistance and feedback to institutions and private providers seeking initial approval of teacher preparation and education preparation programs.
  • Design and update technical assistance information that is placed on the Department’s website pertaining to the initial approval process for teacher preparation and educator preparation institute programs.
  • Prepare bill analyses on legislation that impacts state-approved teacher preparation programs.
  • Collaborate with bureau staff in matters related to program and policy development that facilitates the improvement of teacher preparation programs, including State Board of Education Rules pertaining to educator quality.
  • Collaborate with inter-departmental bureaus and teams to support policy implementation and provide strategic input on policy and rulemaking relevant to the bureau.
  • Provide support to bureau members pertaining to work products to help ensure accuracy and quality, including grammar, punctuation and format.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
