About The Position

Our team of architects, engineers, and technical specialists delivers integrated solutions for laboratory and pharmaceutical facilities across the country. We are seeking a Project Architect / Facility Planner focused on facility planning and early design to support complex life science projects. This role is centered on the front end of projectsworking with clients and engineering teams to translate operational needs into clear, efficient facility layouts. Responsibilities include developing programs, adjacency diagrams, and building layouts. Many projects are greenfield facilities that combine technical production environments with offices, locker rooms, warehouse logistics, and support spaces. The architect in this role helps organize these functions into cohesive, high-performing facilities. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex spatial and operational problems, working directly with clients, engineers and contractors, and shaping facilities from the earliest stages of design.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture or similar
  • 712 years of professional architectural experience
  • Experience developing building layouts, programming documents, and space planning studies
  • Strong understanding of facility planning and architectural coordination
  • Ability to translate complex requirements into clear and efficient layouts
  • Experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam and other design tools
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed architect or working toward licensure preferred
  • Experience planning laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or advanced manufacturing facilities
  • Experience with renovation projects in operational environments
  • Experience planning office and support spaces within industrial or technical facilities
  • Familiarity with equipment layouts, operational adjacencies, and workflow planning
  • Interest in developing expertise in process architecture and technical facility design

Responsibilities

  • Programming and facility planning efforts
  • Develop room adjacencies, blocking diagrams, and building layouts based on operational and process requirements
  • Plan facilities that integrate manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, office, and employee support spaces such as locker rooms and break areas
  • Work with clients and internal teams to translate workflow, staffing, and equipment needs into architectural layouts
  • Participate in planning workshops, programming sessions, and design charrettes
  • Develop conceptual and schematic layouts that establish the overall organization of complex facilities
  • Coordinate with process engineers, MEP engineers, and project teams to align facility layout with technical requirements
  • Conduct site visits and facility walk-throughs to support renovations and evaluate existing conditions
  • Support projects ranging from greenfield facilities to complex renovations within operational buildings
  • Prepare planning diagrams, programming documents, and early design narratives
  • Travel occasionally for project meetings and site visits (typically up to once per month)
