The Opportunity This position works out of our new Altavista, VA location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow to keeping adult bodies strong and active. This position is responsible for providing support and/or oversight for all inbound and outbound shipments, the palletizer area, and any other applicable functions performed at the Altavista Distribution Center. The individual will be skilled with the WMS (Cambar), Lean Logistics, SAP systems, technical troubleshooting, data collection, and root cause/corrective action investigations. In this role, the individual will be required to interact and communicate extensively with both Division Logistics and Plant support personnel (Transportation, Deployment, CSO, Material Control, Maintenance, Plant Inventory Control, Safety, and QA) to assure that projects and/or issues are addressed with little-to-no impact to the DC operation. The individual in this role will also be capable and responsible for assuming the roles and responsibilities of the crew leader and utility operators in the DC, as needed, to support the operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Some College or vocational schooling preferred
  • 3-5 years of distribution and/or logistics operations
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritionals
  • Former or current CDL license

Responsibilities

  • Provide development and oversight to projects in the DC while coordinating with outside contractors and other Abbott personnel.
  • Investigate, identify, and help correct and prevent inventory discrepancies.
  • Perform cycle count activities as needed.
  • Perform Administrative duties as required (i.e. meetings, data collection & analysis, trend reports, month/quarter end closeout, budgets, order supplies, create purchase orders, invoice reconciliation & approvals , My Idea program, Visual Management, RCA’s, Capacity Report updates, etc.).
  • Communicate with Deployment, TPM, Plant QA/TPM QA, CSO, and other functional areas to assure customer needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Perform Returns Process for returned orders.
  • Provide backup coverage for all warehouse functions as needed.
  • All other project work or tasks as assigned by management to meet the needs of the business.
