In this role, you will play a critical role in advancing NextEra Energy’s data center hub development strategy, supporting the rapid growth of energy-intensive customers and enabling long-term value creation. As a Project Director of Development for Data Center Hubs, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary development initiatives from early-stage origination through execution readiness. You will oversee cross-functional teams across development, commercial, engineering, real estate, regulatory, finance, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable, repeatable data center hub solutions. This role will work closely with senior leadership to drive site strategy, customer engagement, and commercial alignment that directly impact NextEra Energy’s growth objectives and bottom line. You will be responsible for managing multiple projects concurrently, navigating permitting, land acquisition, utility infrastructure planning, and community engagement efforts across diverse regions. The role requires frequent interaction with internal Subject Matter Experts and external partners, as well as regular presentations to Development and executive leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities. Travel to project sites will be required to develop a deep understanding of regional markets, customer needs, and local stakeholder dynamics. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and large-load customers while helping define NextEra Energy’s approach to data center hub development. Requirements

  • High School Grad /GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 7+ years

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of the day to day transaction process to ensure timely completion as well as a cost effective and competitive results
  • Leads and coordinates key functions such as financial feasibility analyses, engineering/design, project legal review, permitting activities and financial negotiations
  • Coordinates due diligence activities with other internal groups to ensure proper analysis and structuring of assigned projects
  • Acts as liaison between internal and external specialists regarding procurement, contracting, permitting and interconnection
  • Constructs contractual arrangements for project development
  • Negotiates agreements with consultants and subcontractors
  • Ensures compliance with applicable technical and regulatory requirements
  • Fosters external relationships with customers, third parties and members of the community
  • Identifies opportunities and negotiates power sales contracts
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
