About The Position

Sedron Technologies is hiring a talented Project Engineer - Capital Projects to work a hybrid schedule in either Sedro-Woolley, WA or Chicago, IL! Sedron is a leading provider of circular waste management technologies for agricultural manure and municipal biosolids processing, deploying facilities across several North American regions. Since its founding in 2014, Sedron has pioneered innovative solutions, including the patented Varcor® system, to transform waste into clean water, organic fertilizer, and carbon-negative commodities. With strong engineering expertise, Sedron’s processes reduce nutrient pollution, lower operational expenses, and promote sustainability at a fraction of traditional costs. The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the Engineering Manager in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities to ensure technical deliverables support project execution. This role integrates engineering, procurement, and construction requirements and supports the project team in delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. The Project Engineer serves as the central coordination point between engineering disciplines, project management, and construction teams, taking direction from the Engineering Manager, and supporting the Project Director as necessary. Because we design, build, commission, and operate our technologies, we are looking for individuals who can meet the following essential functions of the position:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline)
  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial project engineering, EPC, or capital project delivery
  • Experience supporting large industrial or infrastructure projects ($100M+)
  • Industrial facility design and construction
  • Engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and layouts
  • Basic understanding of project controls, construction processes, and commissioning
  • Must have effective verbal, reading, and written communication skills in the English language
  • Strong interface coordination and cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex technical information across multiple stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capability
  • High attention to detail, safety, and quality
  • Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced project environments
  • Must be a US Citizen or legal permanent resident for this position. We are unable to sponsor any employment visas.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
  • Experience with Design Build and EPC project execution models
  • Experience managing technical interfaces across multi-contractor projects
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering disciplines to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule and budget
  • Support constructability reviews and provide technical support during construction activities
  • Coordinate responses to RFIs, design clarifications, and field change requests
  • Maintain project documentation and engineering decision logs
  • Conduct site visits and field walkdowns to verify installation quality and adherence to design intent
  • Overseeing upkeep of the Document Master Index for the project
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of technical and organizational interfaces across the project
  • Identify and manage interfaces between:
  • Engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, electrical, controls, process)
  • Engineering firms and EPC partners
  • Equipment vendors and designers
  • Construction contractors
  • Operations, maintenance, and commissioning teams
  • Maintain and track an interface register identifying interface responsibilities, deliverables, and deadlines
  • Facilitate communication and issue resolution across project teams to prevent scope gaps, design conflicts, or delays
  • Support technical procurement activities including:
  • Preparation of bid packages
  • Vendor technical bid evaluations
  • Equipment specification reviews
  • Vendor drawing and document review
  • Coordinate vendor deliverables and ensure alignment with project engineering and schedule requirements
  • Monitor engineering and construction progress to ensure alignment with project milestones
  • Identify risks, constraints, and potential schedule impacts and help implement mitigation strategies
  • Assist with scope management and change control processes
  • Support development of system turnover and commissioning plans
  • Assist with commissioning activities and issue resolution between engineering, construction, and operations teams
  • Ensure documentation completeness for project closeout and operational readiness
  • Promote and support a strong project safety culture.
  • Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
