This job opportunity is located in New Kensington, PA at our Affival fabrication plant. The Project Engineer II will report to the Director of Engineering. The Project Engineer II will be responsible for the aiding of fabrication, design, and installation of large-scale steel mill projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Some experience in a workplace required, preferably in a heavy industry.
  • Candidate must be proficient with using both 2-D and 3-D design software. Preferably AutoCAD and Solidworks.
  • Willing to travel up to 20% of the time depending on customer and department requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with bulk material handling and/or heavy machinery is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with process control systems including but not limited to PLC & electrical systems, navigating and interpretation of Ladder Logic & electrical schematics, MMI & computer interfacing is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with industrial piping design including (P&ID) drawings and routing layouts is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of large-scale projects from concept to install for the steel mill industry. Projects include wire feeding applications, powder mineral transfer applications, ACS applications, and desulfurization equipment.
  • Design phase may require field measurements at customer sites and the mechanical sizing of components.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating a department project list to facilitate completing projects on time and in budget.
  • Assist in the calculation of weights, forces, reactions, stress analysis, power requirements, and time studies as required.
  • Assist in maintaining the drawing revision process throughout the life cycle of the equipment.
  • Must be willing to aid in the installation of projects and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Aiding manufacturing team with the fabrication of projects as required.
  • Must be willing to learn key skills from team members as the need arises.
