Comprised of long- and short-tenured employees, we are interactive amongst our growing family of subsidiaries, which allows employees to participate in clean energy projects, as well as complete our long-time transmission and distribution projects Essential Functions This summer position offers students a hands-on opportunity to see how electric utilities design and maintain transmission and distribution power lines The intern will assist in gathering structure information for asset integration, and gain experience with the transmission and distribution industry standard program PLS-CADD by generating standard files and evaluating existing PLS-CADD models Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data Collaborate with other disciplines and schedule project deliverables The intern will go into the field to pre-field and post-field poles to verify the work has been done to the utility’s standards Be able to identify the units that have been completed Build project out of Xcel SharePoint site Manage project permits Prior to the end of their internship, the intern will create and present a self-reflection project detailing their gained industry knowledge, future career goals, as well as personal and professional growth. The presentation will be provided in PowerPoint and presented to their direct management team. Participation in the Lunch & Learn internship program provided by the MYR Group Internship Leadership team.

Requirements

  • College sophomore or above working towards a related undergraduate degree or be currently enrolled in or attending trade school. If you are a recent graduate, you must be within 1 year of your graduation date.
  • No experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and give presentations.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to communicate with employees and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in gathering structure information for asset integration
