About The Position

What you'll do: The Project Engineer will be working on simple to complex utility and/or industrial power automation projects, with a team and independently, from assisting with scope estimating and proposals, through detailed design and equipment procurement, to systems integration, and commissioning and startup Design and develop control systems architectures, selecting appropriate hardware and software components, and creating control algorithms to meet project requirements Integrate control systems with existing or new equipment, ensuring seamless communication and compatibility between different components, configuring RTUs, programming PLCs, configuring HMIs, and integrating varying data acquisition systems Conduct testing and commissioning activities to verify the functionality and performance of control systems; troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing to meet desired specifications and performance requirements and identify opportunities for system enhancements and optimization Maintain comprehensive documentation of control system designs, configurations, and modifications. Generate technical reports and provide regular updates to project stakeholders on the progress and status of control system implementations Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to include substation engineers, protection and control engineers, and distribution engineers to ensure effective coordination and integration of control systems with other systems Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in control system design and implementation, adhering to safety protocols, cybersecurity measures, and relevant codes and standards Manage control system-related projects, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management Identify and resolve control system issues, performing root cause analysis, and implanting corrective actions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of related experience, preferably in and around an electric utility environment, including substations, BESS, and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of multiple utility industry leading vendor platforms, architectures, and data communications for RTU, HMI, and SCADA systems such as, but not limited to, SEL, Eaton, Novatech, GE Vernova, Survalent, Inductive Automation, Aveva/Wonderware, and OSI.
  • Solid understanding of system data collection, database management, alarm management, and data analytics that support client’s operations and business decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multiple industrial leading vendor platforms, architectures, and data communications for PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems such as, but not limited to, GE Vernova, Rockwell Automation, Emerson, Modicon for hardware and GE Cimplicity, Inductive Automation Ignition, Aveva/Wonderware, and OSI for software.
  • 5+ years of related Experience in industrial settings such as manufacturing, energy, and institutional environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with IEC61850.
