About The Position

Under the leadership of the VP of Engineering, the Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating the resources necessary to ensure the successful and timely completion of complex development projects, including the creation of new mechanical designs and products. The Project Engineer will apply engineering principles to review and approve component and assembly designs for products used in the traffic and utility industries. The role also includes conducting analysis of new and existing designs to ensure products meet defined performance criteria, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a product development environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering or software development projects.
  • FE License

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • PE License or ability to obtain
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Structural design and analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project plans including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), budgets, scope documents, schedules, and technical diagrams.
  • Lead cross-company development initiatives involving New Product Development, Mechanical Engineering, and Operations, to ensure project efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, communications, and status updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Estimate costs, resources, and timelines required to complete projects and ensure alignment with company performance targets.
  • Monitor project risks and issues, escalate when necessary, and develop solutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines, engineering standards, and internal development processes. Recommend improvements to project scheduling, monitoring, and reporting methods.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and coordinate workflow across engineering and operations teams.
  • Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for external engineering services, testing, or consulting.
  • Generate engineering documentation, calculations, and analysis for product designs requiring compliance with applicable standards including but not limited to AASHTO, FHWA, LRFD, and MUTCD.
  • Manage new product development projects including research, concept development, design, testing, implementation, and budget control.
