Project Engineer
About The Position
Contribute your expertise, skills, and experience as an Project Engineer by joining our KDM Engineering team. KDM is a growing, award-winning, minority- and woman-owned professional engineering firm focusing on electric, gas, site civil, and telecommunications engineering designs and support services. KDM is looking for a Project Engineer with 5 – 7 years of experience (ComEd preferred) of Overhead or Underground utilities distribution. This position includes performing engineering tasks on multiple small to medium sized projects with a moderate level of technical difficulty; coordinating and completing complex distribution designs independently, managing a team of engineers, and giving a complete QA/QC check on other designer’s projects.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an accredited university or equivalent technical degree
- 5 – 7 years minimum of experience with Distribution Design, ComEd experience preferred
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards
- Ability to interface effectively with clients, employees, and management team is essential
- Motivated to continually take on more responsibility and lead the team
- Collaborative approach to problem solving
- Strong communication skills
- Must be willing to comply with all pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification, education and employment verification and background screening
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities
- Applying sound engineering knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of project assignments
- Developing contacts with key engineers and officials in other organizations to confirm that engineering practices applied are consistent with current engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and current technological innovations
- Developing and maintaining quality relationships with clients
- Leads projects and project team in the execution of several mid-to-large scale projects
- Communicates and coordinates project activities with internal team members
- Perform Quality Assurance (QA) design reviews and Peer Reviews for all project documents
- Performs peer reviews and mentors project team members
- Assists in the preparation of scoping documents and fees
- Prepares and reviews project drawings in TED
- Resolves design questions and technical concerns
- Provides excellent client/customer service
- Will be managing a team of 3 – 4 engineers
