About The Position

Exus is seeking a Project Finance Intern to join our New York office for Summer 2026. This is a paid, full-time internship with an anticipated duration of approximately 8-10 weeks from June to August 2026. Start and end dates are flexible to accommodate academic schedules. The Project Finance Intern will work closely with the Project Finance team to support the financing of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects across the United States. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to renewable energy project finance, focusing on compliance, financial modeling, tax equity, and deal execution aspects of our renewable energy transactions.

Requirements

  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate student] currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in [Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in renewable energy and infrastructure finance.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modeling experience preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work from the Exus New York office for the duration of the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior coursework or experience in corporate finance, project finance, or financial modeling preferred.
  • Familiarity with renewable energy markets or tax credit structures preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building, updating, and auditing financial models for solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
  • Support project-level budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Conduct sensitivity analyses on various financing assumptions.
  • Assist in preparing materials for lenders, tax equity investors, and internal committees.
  • Support due diligence processes, including data room organization and financial document review.
  • Analyze project Agreements and key project contracts from a financial perspective, such as PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements), Term Sheets, Financing Agreements, tax equity documents, etc.
  • Stay up to date on renewable energy policies, financing trends, tax regulations, and market trends impacting the industry.
  • Work collaboratively with project development, origination, M&A, and due tax teams to ensure successful deal execution
