About The Position

ZF Active Safety and Electronics US, LLC has job openings (multiple) for the position of Project Manager III based out of its location in Farmington Hills, MI. Job Duties:  Lead multi-functional business program teams using a company-specific product launch process (GDPEP), maintain the database that monitors the status of the global program portfolio, and act as gatekeeper to ensure adherence to GDPEP. Conduct flawless launch of programs - meet deliver key milestones (internal and external) on time, with expected financial performance, and proper technical performance as defined by released specifications. Drive risk up stream and ensure final product definition is contained in the PV build. When reporting ensure accuracy and appropriate transparency. Manage programs as required by business needs (supply base management, operations changes, cost reduction initiatives) and maintain comprehensive program reports including schedule and metrics status, open issues and actions and change management (EC) summary. Develop program gate review documentation and program books in support of GDPEP process requirements and maintain in C Place. Conduct program meetings and management gate reviews. Function as primary program contact within the ZF organization and with OEM customers. Develop with purchasing organization sourcing calendars, supplier capacity verification, and BOM trackers. Coordinate functional activities and ensure matrix resource efficiencies to achieve program objectives. Matrix functions include Sales, Product Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistic and Finance. Meet/exceed Electronics and ADAS financial performance objectives with critical focus on BOM and GMP of new programs including clear and accurate reporting of ER&D and CAPEX spend. New program financial performance is expected to meet or exceed CQA objectives. Maintain high level of data quality and accuracy. Manage capital and tooling expenditure appropriation requests (CEA). Ensure CEA spending achieves budget metrics. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Up to 10% domestic and international travel to customer locations and supply base and ZF manufacturing locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Business, or closely related field, plus 5 years of experience in development mgmt or project mgmt in the automotive industry.
  • 2 of 5 yrs exp must incl experience line or matrix managing a team within an electronics or software-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with: Financial management principles, including CAPEX, ER&D and product cost relevant to project execution; Manufacturing processes for automotive electronics, including design and development; Applying automotive quality and project management frameworks including APQP, PPAP, ISO standards, FMEA, and Six Sigma; Agile methodologies throughout the entire product lifecycle; Fostering collaboration, building relationships, and mentoring team members for growth and development; Lead cross-functional teams in a matrix management environment; ASPICE; Continuous Improvement Process/Model; Failure/Root-cause analysis; Data analysis and reporting; DOE (Design of Experiment); and IATF / TS16949.
  • Must have project management certification.
